Polyester down jackets: warm on the inside, waterproof on the outside
A down jacket with polyester inside has a lot of operational advantages, which allows it to boldly compete with products made of natural down. The texture, invented in the second half of the 20th century, is a non-woven material consisting of environmentally friendly polyester fibers.
Each manufacturer has its own technology for producing polyester, but for a down jacket created by a company with an impeccable reputation, it is extremely important:
- to be as wear-resistant as possible;
- to create and maintain internal warmth;
- to withstand intensive use well;
- not to absorb moisture;
- not to be afraid of machine washing.
Therefore, for branded down jackets, polyester of a mixed nature with additives of natural cotton, polyamide, viscose, spandex, yarn, etc. is often used. Together, the components of the insulation help to increase all the strength, heat-saving characteristics of clothing and, importantly, do not violate the formula for its environmental safety.

Each type of polyester insulation used in branded down jackets has individual characteristics that affect the functionality of the coat or jacket.
- Synthetic fluff, which is a breathable spiral fiber, can withstand external temperatures down to -30°C, providing the body with protection and comfort.
- Synthetic fluff, used for everyday and sports jackets, will be comfortable to wear down to -20°C, in addition, the material dries quickly and holds its shape well.
- Hollofiber (soft, volumetric, ecosoft) is produced in the form of dense layers and is suitable for temperatures up to -30°C.
- Thinsulate, which is a twisted siliconized microthread, has an operating temperature from plus +5°C to -60°C (!), and was originally developed for astronauts.
- Short-pile fleeces provide comfortable conditions from +10°C to -20°C. For sub-zero temperatures, multilayer polartec (a type of fleece), reinforced with wind and moisture protection, is suitable.
